How is the cost of a Web site determined?

The cost for building a Web site varies depending upon many factors, such as:

  • How much content will be in the site?
  • What functionality is required?
  • How does your marketing strategy need to work with the site?
  • Will you supply content or will our content developers create it?
  • Are there security requirements?

These are some of the important factors we consider when determining the best and most cost-efficient way to tackle your Web project. We suggest you be leery of "package" based pricing. You could end up paying more by the time you've added all the bells and whistles. What is the difference between Web site design and Web site development?

Web site design refers to the graphic building and visual layout of the site. Development involves creating the programming code needed to perform online ordering, take payments, obtain information through forms, calculators, site searches, and more.

What is Search Engine Optimization?

The number one preferred online marketing strategy for a website is what the industry refers to as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO is an effort to get your website to the top of the results pages on internet search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The idea is to optimize your pages so that your site appears in the top ten or twenty search results of search engines for your targeted search terms.

So the big question on everybody’s lips is “What's the secret?”. Now we wish we could tell you that there was a big secret to SEO and all it takes is a few magical passes over your existing web pages to make it happen but that simply is not the case. Of course there are some basic design principles involved with the methodology, but the fact of the matter is that search engines are in the business of providing the highest quality and most relevant search results to their users which means that SEO actually requires building content that caters to this need.

One way that modern search engines determine relevancy is by analyzing the overall content of your entire site and comparing your web pages to each other to determine the most common terms between them. Based on these common terms, the search engine will decide what it thinks your website is about and therefore consider it more relevant for searches containing those terms. It is assumed that the more web pages you have on your website that speak to a certain subject, the more likely it is that people searching on that subject will find what they are looking for on your site.

In addition, search engines will also qualify your site’s relevancy by apparent popularity. This is a process by which the search engine will look at other websites that link directly to your website and based on what it thinks those websites are about, will increase or decrease your popularity for your particular search terms. It will also take into account possible link exchange programs by looking for a return link (to that website) on your web pages. It is assumed that if a site provides an unreciprocated link to your website that your information is probably of a higher quality.

With these things in mind, our job is to analyze your target market and research which key terms have the potential to produce the highest yield of traffic within your target audience. Once these key terms have been established, content can begin to be assembled with this common focus. When the content is being compiled, we will make sure that the key terms are being adhered to and that each content page is targeting specific key phrases. Other sites with high popularity for your key terms are also scouted and steps taken to establish links to your website on them through mutually beneficial methods. The end result of properly executed SEO will be a steady stream of very targeted high yield traffic to your website for the key terms that benefit you most.

What is a domain name?

Somewhat like a phone number, only alphanumeric, the domain name is a memorable name assigned to a web host to stand in for its numeric IP address. The technical address of a web host is its Internet Protocol Address, or IP Address. Host names are restricted to the ASCII letters "a" through "z", the digits "0" through "9", and the hyphen, with some additional restrictions.

The domain name is the main part of the URL or website address before the first slash. In the following example: www.allcompanies.com/yourcompany your domain name would be www.allcompanies.com. In the following example: www.yourcompany.com, your domain name and website address are one and the same.
